An average dairy cow will drink between 30 and 50 gallons of water each day. That means our herd of nearly 80 cows and oxen drink up to 4,000 gallons of water daily! Fortunately our land is literally gushing with water in many places and with a little digging we can draw well-water. But how to power the pump?
Through a generous grant received by the USDA in 2016, we were able to install this state-of-the-art solar powered well atop our “Govardhan Hill”. This well and 3,000 gallon tank is able to keep our herds hydrated and healthy even in the warmest months of the year.
